Any Hitler Youth experts out there?

Just bought this set of HJ Sholder Boards on eBay http://members.aol.com/number8littlee/matchedset.html and want to know if anyone could tell me which Gebiete (District) - Bann 56 belonged to.

If not, pointing me to a good reference would be nice.

The only relevant reference I have is 'In a raging inferno' Hans Holztrager. This doesn't have a list of all the units in it but it does have a fair bit of other info you may find interesting if the subject is new to you. There are some descriptions of combat as well and you might possibly be able to find your answer by trawling through these.

Given that anything ww2 and german seems to have web site after web site, have you searched the web thoroughly?

Your best source of information could be David Littlejohns The Hitler Youth;, Library of Congress number 87073304, ISBN number 0-934870-21-7. The book may not identify the Bann-number you are looking for, in which case you could contact the author. Agincourt Publishers in the UK may be willing to give you his address. Horst Paufler
