Greetings! I need a reference which mentions or explains that the US military in Hawaii placed their forces on alert in the weeks preceding the attack at Pearl Harbor in 1941 (even though they were not on alert on the fateful morning). I know that was the case, but I can't locate the resource where I read that. I appreciate any help.

Thanks.

Might try Gordon Prange, et al _At Dawn We Slept_ and also _Pearl Harbor: The Verdict of History_. I think both of these, but especially the latter, go into this in some detail.
