In 1934, Leni Riefenstahl was chosen by Adolf Hitler to make the propaganda film 'Triumph of the Will'. I've read that they're were other propaganda films made by Riefenstahl before the war, but I can't find any details. Does anyone know about any such films?

Riefenstahl's second most famous film is 'Olympia', a propaganda piece on the 1936 Berlin Olympics. She also did the films 'Tag der Freiheit' and 'Sieg des Glaubens' for the party.

I'd recommend consulting a recent biography such as Hinton's 'The Films of Leni Riefenstahl' or Rother's 'Leni Riefenstahl: The Seduction of

female film director in history so there is plenty about her in the library. She filmed another Nazi annual convention before Triumph of the Will and her world smash hit was her movie of the 1936 Berlin Olympic Games.

It was actually Goebbels rather than Hitler who selected Riefenstahl for special tasks (and JG had a personal agenda besides.) See also
