Hello,
This week I have bought a Revell SdKfz 250/3 model.
I am thinking about building this as a camouflaged vehicle with lots of stowage, and maybe if I can find info, to portray it as one of Gräbner's vehicles.
I began to doubt wether or not this version of the 250, which is the Alte Art one, was still in use in '44.
However, today I got a copy of A Bridge Too Far and in it is a picture of a burnt out 250 in front of a building. It also gives me a numeral which I could use.
This 250 lacks the aerial frame, so it looks like a 250/1.
Which kind of 250 alte Art would still have been in use in 1944?

The Alte Art stayed in production until October 1943, so it is entirely feasible some survived into September 1944, especially an HQ vehicle.
{snip}
Any which survived from 1943. The 9th SS Panzer Division reached full strength in 1943 but did not see any action until April 1944, so it is entirely feasible that the entire recce battalion was initially equipped with the older Sdkfz 250. It was transferred directly from Russia the France with very few vehicle replacements, a situation which continued until it was finally taken out of the line for 'fattening up' prior to the Bulge. Even so, it remained one of the weaker SS panzer divisions on the western front.
Cheers
