Wehrmacht Morphine

Because Morphine is derived from Poppy's grown outside of Europe, what did the German's use as a medical narcotic?

This question intrigued me, so I went to look it up. According to http://www.lexikon-der-wehrmacht.de/Soldat/ Sanitatsversorgung.htm, the first place where any kind of pain killer would be used would be the battalion aid station, and medics didn't carry any kind of medical narcotic.

I also looked in one of my books that has a list of German medical equipment, which listed the following medications -

- chinin - aspirin - prontosil - tannalbin - pervitin

Another one of my book mentions a 'weak opium derivate'.

Morphine.

Turkey is a major grower of opium poppies for morphine production. (And, alas, for other purposes.) There is a city in west central Turkey called 'Afyon', which is the Turkish spelling of 'opium'.

Throughout the war, except perhaps in the last few months, Germany had access to Turkish opium for conversion to morphine.

Germany turned to synthetic derivatives, methadone was originally created as a pain reliever under the the name of dolphine (for Adolph Hitler)

I agree that this is unlikely. Especially since a lot of Germans nicknamed Hitler 'unser Adi' (our Adi), not 'unser Dolfi'.
