I'm doing research for a story I am writing, and I need to know some info, if anyone knows it:

What was the earliest incursion of ANY kind into german occupied france or germany itself (by a squad sized force or more, not espionage agents)?

What was the first paratroop deployment into the same territories? This can be a small force night drop, or a larger force...

When was overflight bombing of the germans first initiated?

Any help is appreciated, and if you have any suggestions on readings for research I'd be glad to hear them.

Thanks!

I assume that you aren't interested in operations by French Corps Francs (i.e. commandos) in 1939 and 1940. After the fall of France, the first raid was by 150 men of No. 11 Independent Company - no idea what the operation was called - who landed in the Pas Calais on 23/24 June 1940.

IIRC it was the Bruneval Raid - Operation Biting - by C Company of 2 Para on 27/28 February 1942.

Very shortly after the Germans occupied northern France.
